Heather's journey to becoming a respected journalist was paved with dedication and hard work. She earned her MBA in Global Energy Management and Sustainable Development from the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business, demonstrating her commitment to understanding the complexities of the industries she covered. Prior to that, she obtained degrees in journalism from Ryerson University and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Anthropology from the University of British Columbia, shaping her into a well-rounded and knowledgeable professional.
Beyond her role at BNN Bloomberg, Heather was deeply engaged in her community. She sat on the boards of the Kerby Centre and Accessible Housing, as well as two other not-for-profit organizations dedicated to supporting vulnerable populations in Calgary. Her involvement in these organizations reflected her values and her desire to make a positive impact beyond the realm of journalism.
Heather's contributions didn't go unnoticed. She was recognized as part of Calgary’s Top 40 under 40 class of 2018 and had the honor of participating in the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference of 2020.
The news of Heather's layoff is not just a loss for BNN Bloomberg but for the broader community she served. Her expertise, dedication, and passion for journalism will undoubtedly be missed, but her impact will continue to resonate, both in Calgary and beyond.
